Planning is responsible for Regulations, Standards, and Specifications for the Subdivision, Conveyance,
Development, and Improvement of Unincorporated Land in the County.

The purpose and intent of our Planning ordinance is to set forth certain procedures, requirements, minimum
standards, specifications, compliance with State and Federal Regulations, and acceptable criteria for the
development of all unincorporated land in Benton County, Arkansas.
The concept of development or land development shall include but not be limited to:
Subdivisions
Informal Plats
Tract and Lot Splits
Commercial Developments
Master Development Plans
Planned Unit Developments
All other types of Commercial & Private Development
Criteria for consideration include the process of orderly and systematic recordation of land subdivision,
conveyance, and area improvement.
Floodplain Management
The Planning Office also oversees the National Flood Insurance Program for
the county, which requires that all development in designated floodplains
comply with Federal Emergency Management Agency mandates and Benton County's
Floodplain Ordinance.

On-going flood managment efforts include:
Working with realtors, landowners and developers in addressing flood issues/problems
Requiring/reviewing all proposed development permits affecting a FEMA designated floodplain
Insuring compliance with the County's Floodplain Ordinance
Providing and managing the required map repository,
Can be of assistance with FEMA approved flood map revisions including LOMA, CLOMA, LOMR and CLOMR
Many other related issues.
