Environmental Health Specialists perform assessments of all food service and
food store establishments on a routine basis.
Any deficiencies in the operation are noted and the
owner/manager informed as to why items were deficient and proper means to
enact correction.
Follow-ups are then made within specified time frames in
order to confirm compliance.
- Figures for fiscal year 2005 indicated 910 assessments were
performed.
- The Environmental Health Specialists do follow-up on food complaints
for possible food-borne illnesses.
The EHS provided training to Food Service Managers and employees on
ServSafe courses and the "Down and Dirty" training sessions.
